Wednesday - Hump Day!
Good morning all. To anyone on the roads last night, wasn’t it absolutely horrid? Took me two hours to get home. 465 was backed up and looked like a parking lot so I took Shadeland north, took me an hour to get from 56th street to 82nd street and I still had to get to Westfield yet. Traffic and accidents. What a mess and we are supposed to get snow today. I must say though 465 was very good this morning at 4:30.
This is my last day this week. My DIL is a groomer and she is booked for the holidays so I’m taking off to help her get the place ready for our family Christmas on Sunday. She had been working at deep cleaning the past few days, but she’s allergic to most cleaning chemicals so I’ll do the baths and kitchen for her, and then work on my place. Saturday I plan to spend prepping the food stuffs and finish any baking. I am so looking forward to it.
This is the last day to process tax changes at work, so I know I’ll be busy today with the last minute things that need to get in. It’s our year end. After tonight we will be slow until mid January and things will go crazy with hundreds of requests for corrected W2’s. I’ll probably get my share of OT then, but that’s okay because I can pay some Christmas bills.
I hope everyone has a good day. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we don’t get the snow that is predicted. I don’t look forward to another two hour drive home tonight. You all keep safe, warm and happy. Praying for God’s blessings, peace, and healing touch on all today.

Good morning, Julie!
The roads on my way home from work yesterday afternoon were pretty crappy here in Richmond, too. I still went to Meijer and stopped to visit my mom, though. The weather has to be pretty bad for me to alter what I want to do!

Today's gonna be another working day...transcription this morning, then the Post Office this afternoon. I'm training to be interim Postmaster after our current one retires on Dec. 31. I don't want the job full-time, but will just be filling in until they replace him. I don't wanna do it, really, I'm used to working 5-10 hours per week and now it will be 45. Yuk. I had to take a leave of absence from one of my clients because there's no way I will be able to keep up with everything...thank goodness for my two typists whom I employ. I wouldn't be able to keep my business during this without them. That's why I don't want the Postmaster job full-time, I'd have to give up my business and I can make more transcribing than working at the Post Office. The few hours I get covers my insurance and retirement plan, though, so it's perfect. Oh well, the extra money I make will help pay our taxes this year. Owning two small businesses is a killer tax-wise. Shouldn't be that way, and it's about to get worse...but I digress.
Hope everyone has a terrific day!!
Jenny
I was fortunate and got all my running done before the roads got too bad yesterday. I started my day off by seeing Jennie (Jen_on_c). She looked like she was doing pretty good. As so many on here, she looks NOTHING like her pic on here! LOL! She had her hair cut fairly short (longer than mine..but I think she said she had 14" removed) and donated it to Locks for Love (that's the name of the organization I think....). She is a very sweet woman and I'm looking forward to getting to know her better. She had her very good friend Brandon there. He was also very nice and kudo's for being there for Jen! Jennie has a young toddler so I know some of you can relate to how much she misses her and also how much effort it is going to take NOT to pick her up and give her a big hug when she gets home. Oh...which should be today.
I then went the Meijer's and put a dent in my credit card balance. After I left there & on the way home, I kept thinking of things I forgot to get! Don't you hate that???? Does anyone else have their credit card? What do you get with the reward points that show up on your statement? Some cards, you can 'buy' from a catalog and others, will take off so much $ after you get to a certain level.
After that, I drove back to the east side. It was snowing then but the roads weren't bad yet. I had to go to the post office. I meant to buy 200 stamps. I screwed up & bought 400 (there were 20 per sheet instead of 10). Oh well, they won't be wasted...half of them are the Forever Stamps. Then I had to pick up scripts. I went home, Bill & I unloaded my Meijer goodies, and then he & I went to a local restaurant (Papa's) for some chili & grilled ham & cheese (which I had the rest for my dinner too...lol). And after that? I spent the rest of the day working on my cards!! I think I'll be sending out close to 250! I'll let you all know what the exact count ends up being because I am no where near being done. Hey...gotta use those stamps! LOL!
So..today...finish cards up! If I'm lucky, go to the post office & get them in the mail as well. Beyond that, start wrapping presents is the only thing on today's agenda.
Have a really good day everyone! And be very careful!

School is currently on a 2 hour delay, so I am enjoying a little extra time this morning catching up. I have a Dr. appt and nut appt. on Thurs in Indy. I think Tracy is coming with me. We are planning to stop up to see Melissa and anyone else from the IN board. Even if someone is not on the board, it is fun to introduce yourself as people are walking and let them know you have walked in their shoes.
We are supposed to have a bad ice storm up this way on Thurs night. I sure hope nothing happens to screw up Richard's plans for giving me my engagement ring on Friday night. We both will be really bummed.
Stay safe and warm and drive carefully. Much love and hugs...Karen
When I make my runs (which aren't nearly as many as I wish I could) to the bariatric wing, I bring a pocketful of OH business cards with me (you can print them off thru OH). That way, I can let people know about the board at the same time. Mine has my pre pic on it and people are like 'no! that isn't you!!'. lol.
You'd be surprised at where all you can have a chance to give someone one of those cards....
I have given them out to people at restaurants. Once, I had overheard two ladies at a table next to us talking about weight loss surgeries so I introduced myself and gave them each a card.
Another time, I had to have a test done at Community East and the girl at the registration saw that I had WLS so she started asking me questions about it & I gave her a card.
Yep..I have a special pocket in my purse just for my OH cards! LOL!
Sherri
ps..I REALLY hope nothing happens to mess up Richard's plans!!!! You & he both deserve for it to go without a hitch!

I have plans today to do some things that just may land me a dream job. So please say a prayer for me so I will have clear direction about my future. I am trying to make some important decisions that could just change everything for Marc and myself. We are excited and nervous both. Just not sure if it's gonna be the right path for us.
I am gonna work on my Christmas cards today. I will also be checking on Melissa today and updating you on the board.
Karen, call me please! I am so excited about seeing you tomorrow. I love going up to the hospital to visit as well.
Huge hugs,
Tracy

If you have to go out, be careful. It seems like people don't want to slow down, despite the ice and road conditions.
Today has been pretty busy. Took 2 of the kids to the dentist today and then one back to school so she could finish finals. Scheduled her appointment to have her wisdom teeth pulled on Tuesday. They are giving her such fits! She will be thrilled when she gets home. Then have to go see the nut today. Feeling better with my meds finally....Will try soft foods again tonight, hopefully they will stay down this time.
Feeling pretty good and ready for this weekend, to spend some time with larry's family. and since his MIL just had the surgery 2 weeks ago we have alot to talk about. I had no idea we could print off cards....I will have to explore and find those. Hope everyone is having safe travels and the roads are better whereever you guys are at.
Hugs
Melissa
Hi Everyone,
I'm a little late posting. I got up early this morning because I couldn't sleep. Then we had a 2 hr. delay. So I made banana bread and buckeye bars to give as gifts. I put the banana bread in mini pans so I have 8 loaves. I sure wanted to keep going on my baking once I started.
I went to Jenny yesterday too. We had a great visit. I was glad to meet her.
I didn't go to see Jennie until the roads were starting to get nasty. And after our visit they were really nasty when I was on my way North to go home. I decided to skip 31 and go to one of the parallel roads West of it. Wow! I got in some very slow moving traffic. It turned out a semi pulling a trailer with some heavy equipment had tangled with a car and some powerlines. I was eventually able to go farther West. I finally got home at 6:30. It was worth it to meet Jennie. I'm glad most of us were able to avoid the weather and get the things they needed to get done before it all started.
I'm going to have to do my cards over the next couple of days. I've got to get them out or it will be after Christmas before they get them. I'm going to try to enlist the dh for some help. It just might work.
I should get back to work. Everyone have a great day.
